Personal Reflection on Topic of Inquiry(posted January 27 -- Peer Response January 29)
Rough Draft Definition (posted February 3 -- Peer Response February 5)
The concept of pain is one known all around the world. No one on the face of this earth has gone through their entire life without feeling pain, either physical or emotional pain, and how much it can motivate people into action or hinder them from doing such. Pain defined as physical suffering or discomfort caused by illness or injury is actually more than just that, it is also the emotional suffering or discomfort that one goes through. Pain is not just physical, it can also be a thought that Hurts to think, or a person that pains you to see them go. Pain is in everything, artist's suffer for their art, musicians suffer through the attack of their critics, and everyday citizens have to endure the pain that comes with everyday life. Pain is an aspect in human life in which everyone can relate to.
Emotional pain, in some ways can be more detrimental to a positive outlook on life than physical pain. Emotional pain is the pain we feel on the inside from something normally external. A mother who is pregnant gets hit by a car, she loses the baby but is still forced due to how far along in the pregnancy she is has to give birth to a still born baby. This mother can recover from the physical pain of the car accident in a relatively short amount of time but the emotional pain she feels will last her the rest of her life. There is no way to completely erase devastating emotinoal pain in ones life. Some find solace in illegal drugs, some find it in physical activities but the underlying reasons of these actions are the emotional pain that you feel on the inside.
The one part of life that most of us will encounter on multiple different occassions is physical pain. Physical pain is that part of life that everyone knows is coming but most want to avoid. There are different levels of physical pain, as you would know if you ever went to the doctor for a stomach pain they would ask you to rate it on a scale of 1-10. Falling down and scraping your knee and getting third degree burns across 70% of your body are on two completely different levels of pain. Physical pain can hinder many from doing what they aspire to do with their lives. Take the example of Kevin Everett of the Buffalo Bills. he received an injury to his spinal cord in a game against the Denver Broncos that left him unable to return to the football field. The physical pain and damage caused by this injury cut short his career that he had worked hard for throughout his life. Tragedies such as these happen every day, and everyday some poor soul has to endure the pain of not being able to do what they have aspired to do because of an injury in their past.
The biggest key to survival in todays world is pain management. Everyone has to have their own way to cope with the pain that life is going to innevitably deal them. For some pain may be managed by precription or possibly illegal drugs. For some pain may be alleviated by talking about it or voicing their personal frustrations to the world. Pain can be well managed but is not always. Everyone needs to have their own personal attack plan for pain, and implement it as soon as they feel the onset of pain in their life.
Pain is a hinderance in everyones life. it can come and it can go but the problems it brings will last a lifetime. No one can avoid pain forever it is innevitable and therefore we should be prepared. Withe worlds problems becoming more and more eveident in our lives today we must prepare ourselves for the future. Pain is everywhere, dont try and avoid it try and cope.
Revision Definition (posted February 10 -- Peer Response February 12 ) The concept of pain is one known all around the world. No one on the face of this earth has gone through their entire life without feeling pain, either physically or emotionally, and how much it can motivate people into action or hinder them from doing such. Pain is a feeling that is hard to comprehend, it can tell us to run away from a situation, it can make us stronger, faster, and more agile along with weaker, slower and more trepidacious. Pain, defined as mental or emotional suffering or torment, has a way of moving around in life that is un-matched by any other feeling. Not everyone in this world has experienced euphoria, or depression, or even true happiness, but everyone has experienced pain. Pain can come from anywhere, a thought that hurts to think, a song that brings back bad memories, a conversation takes a wrong turn and strikes a nerve, it can come from everywhere and we as humans have to know how to avoid it if possible. Pain is just one of the aspects of human life that everyone can relate to one another too, whether or not the pain is on the same level doesn’t matter because pain is pain no matter the degree. Emotional pain in some ways can be more detrimental to a positive outlook on life than physical pain. Emotional pain is the pain people feel on the inside from something external in their life. A woman who is pregnant gets hit by a car, she loses the baby but is forced to carry around her dead fetus and give a still birth because of how far along she is in her pregnancy. This woman can recover from the physical pain of the accident rather quickly but the emotional pain of losing her child that far along in her pregnancy will follow her around for the rest of her life. There is no way to completely erase devastating emotional pain in one’s life. The mind has a trick to repress the memories of emotionally disturbing events but that normally only happens in children and eventually the repressed memory returns to the victim. People deal with their own personal pain in different ways. Some find solace in illegal narcotics, some find it in physical activities, and some even find it through helping out the community. The one thing people need to realize is there always has to be ways to turn around, to take that negative feeling and turn it into something that’s worth while and most people have the ability to do just that. The one feeling in life that most people will encounter on multiple different occasions is physical pain. Physical pain is that part of life that everyone knows is coming but most want to avoid. There are different levels of physical pain, as you would know if you ever went to the doctor for a stomach ache they would ask you to rate your pain on a scale from 1-10. Falling down and scraping your knee and getting third degree burns across 70% of your body are on 2 completely different levels of pain. Tragedies such as these happen every day, and every day some poor soul has to endure the pain of not being able to do what they have aspired to do due to an injury in their past. The biggest key to survival in today’s world is pain management. Everyone has their own way to cope with the pain that life is going to inevitably deal them. Some pain may be managed by prescription and some by narcotics. Some pain can be managed by talking it out and some by voicing your personal frustrations to the world. Pain can be well managed but is not always. Everyone needs to have their own personal attack plan for pain, and implement it as soon as they feel the onset of pain in their life. Pain is and can be a very powerful hindrance in people lives. It can come and go but the problems it brings with will last a lifetime. No one can avoid pain forever, it is inevitable and therefore we should be prepared. With the world’s problems becoming more and more evident in our lives today we must prepare ourselves for the future. Pain is everywhere, try and avoid it try and cope when you cant. Rough Draft Comparison (postedFebruary 24 -- Peer Response February 26 ) Pain, one of life’s miseries; joy one of life’s pleasures. These two seemingly opposite feelings have quite a bit in common. Everyone feels them at some point in their life. The key difference between the two is people search for joy while they try and stay away from pain. Either way they are both extremely important emotions in life to guide us as humans. When people think of pain they think of getting physically hurt, but that’s not the only pain people feel. Emotional pain is a big part of life that helps shape us as people. Pain is a big factor when it comes to real life decisions; it’s a motivator to avoid certain actinos or situations that are going to end in either physical or emotional pain. People generally tend to avoid pain while they do quite the opposite when it comes to joy. One of the most sought after feelings or emotions in life is joy. People tend to try to enjoy life; they tend to avoid negative feelings and try to elevate positive feelings to joy. It’s hard to live a happy meaningful life without joy in it. There is joy in everything, we as humans just have to find it. People who can find joy in the little things in life live a life that is successful, in its own way. Without joy what is life? Without pain what is life? These two emotions are intertwined because they are both huge factors in the success or failure of a person. Both of these emotions are very powerful and can shape the behaviors of people. All people around the world can relate to these two emotions. Overall these two emotions are two of the most important emotions in life. Pain is something we all try to avoid but inevitably cant. Joy is something we all aspirre for and hopefully at one point find. Revision Comparison (posted March 2 -- Peer Response March 4)
